A Mothers Day story

It is common knowledge within the acupuncture community, and in all health communities, that treating family and close friends are the most challenging. This is due sometimes to patient compliance. More importantly I suspect that changing a perception of someone you have only known as for example  your child, and to see that person as not only a professional but as a healer capable of taking care of others, may take some time. For instance when your daughter decides to live in a van for nearly 6 months and spend her early adulthood wanting to become everything from a law enforcement officer, to a surgeon, and even a smoke jumper it may be hard to take her seriously.

This year for Mothers Day, I received a gift from my mother by way of a Instant Messenger.

"I read all the articles you wrote. I can feel your enthusiasm. You enjoy what you are doing. Now finally I can see what you are doing. You are born as a therapist. I can tell you that definitely. Your dad is so proud of you. When you said you wanted to be an acupuncturist, I was not sure back then. When you graduated, you achieved your schooling but I was not sure you would like to be an acupuncturist. Now for the first time I can see you are the true acupuncturist. Enjoy enjoy just like your daddy enjoyed. Be positive, enjoy learning, and care about your patient from your heart. Daddy was same way too. I love you and I am so proud of you. Mom"

Thanks Mom
