Chinese classical teachings of medicine state that eating the right foods ensure your health for the whole year. This has proven to be true for thousands of years. The most important part of eating the right foods is to eat foods that are grown fresh during each season. Essentially our medicine shows that foods that are eaten in the Fall and Winter build energy for expenditure during the fun Spring and Summer months. Foods that are eaten during the Spring and Summer work in building your immune system for the Fall and Winter months. Conversely not consuming proper foods means a harsh winter of getting sick, which then leads to a tiresome Spring and Summer. Eating seasonally is the most powerful way to to lead a happy healthy life. Food is your (3x +) daily dose of medicine.
We at Integrative Sports Medicine see that it is hard for our patients to always get the proper nutrition for themselves and their families. We live in a hectic modern world where work, children, and a never ending to do list often leads us to choose convenience over health. Although eating wholesome foods for every meal is not always easy, it is an investment into you and your families health for both the short and long term.
At HeCares we care about our patients and want to help our community during an acute stage of disease or injury, and prevention through both treatment and education. With this in mind we have developed a interactive educational class teaching both patients and newcomers to Chinese Medicine about food!! The class will include an informal lecture about seasonal ingredients, their nutritional values, and how to get proper nutrition if you have dietary restrictions. Most importantly we will inculde tastings of delicious, easy to prepare seasonal foods to inspire your creativity and your taste buds and recipes to be able to re-create them at home.
