![]() An eighty-five year young lady has been pleased at the relief from merely four sessions of acupuncture for the pain in her shoulders, neck, hips, and hands which are all due to osteoarthritis. This morning she asked me if acupuncture could help her pain in her left eye. I asked if her eye pressure(intraocular pressure/IOP) has been checked recently. She said her pressure appeared good according to her ophthalmologist two weeks ago. She was told that her eye pain was due to skin inflammation that resulted from blepharitis. Upon closer examination of her eye lids, it did not appear this was the issue. I decided to examine her sinus and nasal passage. To HER surprise, she has a maxillary sinus infection which caused pressure in the eye socket. She also recalled her left tear duct seemed blocked and had trouble breathing through left nostril for a few weeks. Based on the findings and her history, we agreed to treat her sinus. Again, to HER surprise, her eye pain almost went away after the session. Frank He, L.
