I came to the clinic in hopes of solving some digestive issues that had been bothering me for years. It wasn't an emergency, but it was a chronic condition that persisted despite my eating well and staying relatively healthy. For this reason, I decided to seek out traditional Chinese medicine. I asked a friend to recommend the best English-speaking Chinese medicine clinic she knew (because my Chinese is terrible), and she recommended HeCares.
Dr. Campanale is the clinic's specialist of digestive disorders (among other things). She took good care of me, and over the course of two months I received five treatments from her. She treated me holistically with acupuncture, cupping, and herb medicine. She also gave me dietary and exercise advice, and basically taught me how to take care of my digestion. I started to feel results within the first week, and now it has been several months since my last acupuncture session and things are still going well.
For those hesitant of acupuncture, Dr. Campanale's needling technique is very gentle and the cupping felt like a massage. She also took the time to explain the concepts behind her diagnosis of my health, which is great because even though I grew up in a Chinese household I have only a fuzzy understanding of the medicine. She's very responsive to the patient's needs, both large and small. On one of my visits I mentioned that I felt like I was coming down with a cold. Though I was there for my digestive issues and didn't expect her to address my cold, she needled my immune system points and sent me home with herbs to prevent me from getting sick. And, despite it being flu season, I didn't get sick!
Whether you're new to traditional Chinese medicine or not, and especially if you're looking for an English speaking, integrative practice of the medicine, I would highly recommend Dr. Campanale and the HeCares clinic.
