Dr. Zhang graduated from Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1991 with Bachelor’s degree in medicine. She finished her two-year residency at Dandong Women and Children Hospital before she entered her three-year master’s degree program in 1993 during which she did extensive research of thyroid diseases. After her graduation, she was appointed at the university's affiliated hospital as an instructor and supervisor.She has published numerous papers on eye acupuncture, muscle channel theory and thyroid diseases.

Besides practicing at Integrative and Sports Medicine Center in Sunnyvale, Danling is also a professor of Five Branches University-a graduate school of TCM.
